Moving is extremely stressful, just the thought of packing up my house makes me tired. There is just so much stuff! I bet you have no idea how you accumulated so much stuff! Hopefully, this will make things easier.
Packing:
Packing can be very difficult. Once you have accumulated all the millions of boxes, the best thing you can do is start slowly. Try to organize as best as you can, don’t take junk into your new house. Pack things per room, don’t mix the kitchen with the bathroom box!
Tip: Label your boxes by numbers and then number the rooms in your new home. The movers will see the number 1 on the box, followed by the number 1 on the door and know that box goes into that room.
Tip: When packing, pack a suitcase with anything you might need for the first few days. Such as toiletries, sheets, towels and some clothes. This way there is no crazy rush to unpack any of the boxes to find your kids school shirt!
Moving:
The day has come! Your house is finally ready to move into. You have finished the renovations. The kitchen is ready, as well as the bathroom and the light fixtures are all in place. Now what? The best thing you can do is give your home a professional cleaning. A professional clean will get rid of the dust or any dirt leftover from any construction you might have done. This would mean giving the floors a sweep and a good wash. The cleaners should also clean the inside of the kitchen cabinets so your things are ready to be put away. As well as the sinks and the bathtubs or shower units. You may also want to make sure the windows are clean. So your house is spick and span before moving in.

One other thing to think about is getting an exterminator. Obviously, there is no guarantee but this will hopefully eliminate any bugs coming into your home. Moving is stressful enough you do not need to wake up the first morning in your home and find bugs in places where you don’t want them to be.
Other things to think about would be moving over utility bills to your name and have them linked to your bank account. Changing your address on your identification cards should be another item on your checklist. Switching over the internet to your new address is also important, especially if you are working from home.
Now that you have checked everything off on your list. The last thing to do would be to throw a house warming party! Enjoy your new home!
