So, what is the best way to keep things neat and tidy in a small space? Well, finding the right pieces of furniture to fit in the nooks and crannies.
The Couch:
- Buy a couch that the seats could lift up and therefore giving you storage underneath for winter blankets? Extra towels? Sheets? Winter coats? Storage with in the seats is great for hiding things you don’t need all year round.
- A couch with legs also comes in handy, because you can store things in thin boxes or vacuum bags underneath.
- How about a couch that doubles up as a bed, consequently serving as two purposes. Could be useful if you like hosting people but don’t have that extra room for guests.

Bookshelves:
- Floor to ceiling bookshelves are great, therefore giving you more space to store your books. If you can’t get floor to ceiling bookshelves, you can store boxes on top of a regular bookcase.
- Most bookshelves you can store more than one row of books.
- Putting cabinet doors on 2 or 3 of the shelves is another way to keep things looking neat and tidy. Keeping the kid’s toys in there is also an option.
- Putting a bookshelf on its side and then putting cushions on it, so it doubles up as a seat.
- Air floating shelves in a corner space.
Remember, don’t put things in the boxes that are on top of the bookcase that are for everyday use. You’ll get tired of pulling them up and down every day.

How to organize your books on the shelves to make it look nice, well there are many options. Height order? Arrange by Colour? Organize alphabetically? Your favorite books first?
TV Area:
- Is your TV on a stand or hanging on the wall? If it is on a stand, buy the stand that best suits your needs, with shelves? Drawers? Cabinet? On legs to store things underneath? Giving the options to store vacuum bags or thin boxes under it.
- Is your TV is hanging on the wall? perhaps build bookshelves around it, this will give you the option to organize the way you wish.
- Get those cable ties, they’ll help the area look more organized.

Well everyone who has kids will tell you that it is hard to keep a house organised and clean with kids around. Keeping things in boxes or nice big bins on the shelves is an option and if you can build cabinet doors on the shelves to help keep the mess hidden away, even better.
Coffee Table:
- A shelf underneath to store things? like books and magazines or even board games.
- Or perhaps having a small corner coffee table, saving on space in the middle of the room. Use the corners, they are valuable space.!
Desk:

- Fold away desk, to help save on space.
- A small mounted shelf, with enough space for your computer.
- An entrance way table has enough room to keep your desktop on it
- Have a curved shaped window? Build a desk
Remember, choose your colors wisely. Dark colors in an already small room can make your living space feel like a cave. If you like dark colors, use them in accessories like throw pillows, area rugs and accents in drapery. Consider using lighter colors on the walls, and ceiling to open up
