What is Parquet Flooring?
Parquet flooring is wood pieces placed in a geometric shape. Nowadays Parquet can be made from solid or engineered hardwood flooring.
Solid Hardwood
Pros:
- It is made from one piece of wood.
- It is 3/4 inch thick.
- It can be sanded many times.
- Solid Hardwood if maintained well, can last for many years.
- It will enhance the look of your home.
- Low maintenance and easy to clean.
- The color doesn’t fade.
Cons:
- It does not hold well with moisture.
Engineered Hardwood
Pros:
- Engineered hardwood floors are made from a thin slice of hardwood with a thin layer of plywood.
- It is less than 1/2 inch thick.
- Can be sanded only once
- Easy to install.
- Low maintenance.
Cons:
- Engineered flooring is not as thick as the solid wood flooring therefore, not as durable.
- It can be sanded only once before the thin upper layers wear away.
- More expensive than Solid Hardwood flooring.
