What is Parquet Flooring?

Parquet flooring is wood pieces placed in a geometric shape. Nowadays Parquet can be made from solid or engineered hardwood flooring.

Solid Hardwood

Pros:

  • It is made from one piece of wood.
  • It is 3/4 inch thick.
  • It can be sanded many times.
  • Solid Hardwood if maintained well, can last for many years.
  • It will enhance the look of your home.
  • Low maintenance and easy to clean.
  • The color doesn’t fade.

Cons:

  • It does not hold well with moisture.

Engineered Hardwood

Pros:

  • Engineered hardwood floors are made from a thin slice of hardwood with a thin layer of plywood.
  • It is less than 1/2 inch thick.
  • Can be sanded only once
  • Easy to install.
  • Low maintenance.

Cons:

  • Engineered flooring is not as thick as the solid wood flooring therefore, not as durable.
  • It can be sanded only once before the thin upper layers wear away.
  • More expensive than Solid Hardwood flooring.
